Board Member
Angela moved to Durango, 11 years ago from the Midwest, as a single mother with her two young children to Durango so they could pursue their education at Fort Lewis College with Native American Tuition Assistance. Angela spent numerous years as an Executive Assistant to CEOs in the St. Louis area and carried that career over to Durango. She moved to Durango as the Executive Assistant to the CEO at the Durango Herald, where she assisted with all of their board meetings for 5 years. She then moved on to Chinook Medical Gear taking an interest in medical supply sales for the next few years. This is where she started her love of being involved in the La Plata County community, providing schools and local companies with active shooter go bags, defibrillators, Narcan, and emergency supply packs. She believes it is important to become involved in the local Durango area and actively give back to our community. She takes great pleasure in meeting like-minded women and working with organizations that make a difference in helping others in times of need. She is now employed with La Plata County as the Sr. Administrative assistant at the La Plata County Fairgrounds. In 2023 she was recognized at the La Plata County Employee Of the year also known as the “County Hero” for saving a man’s life on the Fairgrounds property. She takes pride in her current position at the La Plata County Fairgrounds assisting not only the Fairgrounds Events but also the Colorado State University Extension Program which includes the 4-H program, Food and Consumer Science Program, and the Horticulture and Agriculture program at the La Plata County Fairgrounds. She hopes to make a difference to help assist single mothers like herself to have a bright and beautiful future in La Plata County with the assistance of the Women’s Resource Center.
