Women's Resource Center

Kara Komick came to Durango in 1993 from Southern California. Kara has a very colorful resume mostly in finance and accounting. She began her career in the entertainment industry working as the accountant on location for various movies. When she came to Durango she was very involved in the birth of the Leland House and Rochester Hotels, working with her mother Diane Wildfang and brother Kirk Komick. After this she worked for Fort Lewis Foundation as the finance director during the Concert Hall and Center for Southwest Studies campaigns. She even worked with WRC back in early 2001, helping Susan Lander with budget and accounting. Kara has always been an advocate for empowering women and follows in the footsteps of her mother, Diane Wildfang, a prior board chair and recipient of the Morley Ballantine Athena award. Kara comes on the board as our Treasurer with enthusiasm to bring back the woman power that made WRC what it is today.
