What is Affordable Housing?
Affordable Housing in the United States is generally defined as housing (including utilities) that costs no more than 30% of a family’s gross monthly income. Families who pay more than 30% of their income for housing are considered cost burdened and may have difficulty affording other necessities such as food, clothing, transportation and medical care.
