Ticket sales for Girls Night Out go on sale beginning today at Maria's Bookshop, Rylee Mac's Market and Cooking School, the Women's Resource Center, and online at wrcdurango.org. Tickets for the festive event are $45 each. Girls Night Out will be at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 10, at the Blue Lake Ranch Ridgewood Events Center. Read more about Girls Night Out here . . .

New Face Productions, a fund- and awareness-raising group that supports the Durango Arts Center, seeks artists for TOP, a juried garment-design exhibition and auction that will be on Saturday, Oct. 16, at the Durango Arts Center. Artists are invited to create designs for a high-quality t-shirt-style garment for a juried fashion show and auction. Selected artists will receive 50 percent of the commission on successfully auction designs.

Applications will be accepted and artists will pick up the garments for the show between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. at the Durango Arts Center. Finished garments must be submitted by Wedneday, Sept. 15. Artists who will be included in the fashion show will be notified by Oct. 1. Pick up an Extraordinary Woman Award nomination form and buy your tickets to Girls Night Out from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday, July 31, at our booth at the Durango Farmers Market. Ticket sales begin Tuesday, July 27, and will be available at Maria's Bookshop, Rylee Mac's Market and Cooking School, the Women's Resource Center, and online at wrcdurango.org. Get your tickets early for this sell-out event!

Joe Keck, executive director with the Southwest Colorado Small Business Development Center, will hold office hours from nooon to 4 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 2, at the Women's Resource Center to provide free business-consulting services for women interested in starting their own businesses. Each appointment is one hour long.  You should have at least an outline of a business plan and prepared questions to use your time with Keck to your best advantage.Call the Women's Resource Center at 247-1242 for an appointment and more information.

The next Womenade, the grassroots fund-raising program sponsored by the Women's Resource Center, will be at 12 Noon on Thursday, August 5, at the Rochester Hotel. Anyone may attend. Bring a suggested donation of $25 and your own lunch. The Women's Resource Center will provide beverages and cookies. Participants will pool their donations and will vote to give the money to applicants in need of emergency funds. Learn more about Womenade here . . .

Mark your calendars NOW for the next Speed Networking for Busy Business Women event scheduled from 5:30 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 5, at the Durango Recreation Center.

This fun-filled event is a fast-paced exercise that allows participants to exchange business information with about 12 other women during a series of four-minute conversations in a round-robin format. It's a lot like speed dating -- only better -- because you get to meet other business women and perhaps establish a business relationship with those you meet.

The evening begins at 5:30 p.m. with registration and 30 minutes of informal networking. At 6 p.m. sharp, the speed networking begins. Women will have two minutes each to exchange information one-on-one, then will move to the next woman for another round of exchanges. After an hour, each participant should exchange business contact information with at least 12 other women.

Cost is $10, and the first 50 women who register at the door will receive a goody bag. Bring plenty of business cards. Wine and light refreshments will be served. Call the Women's Resource Center at 247-1242 for more information.

Colorado Legal Services, the Southwest Bar Volunteer Legal Aid, and the Women's Resource Center willhost the next Pro-Se (Do-It-Yourself) Divorce Clinic from 6 to 8:30 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 5, at the Durango Public Library. The clinic will go over the legal papers you need to fill out to file your own divorce. Free legal services may be available for qualifying individuals based on income. The Women's Resource Center Book Club will meet at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 11, at the Rochester Hotel to discuss The Red Diary by Toni Blake. The mainstream romance revolves around a painter's discovery of a woman's diary, filled with erotic fantasies, and what happens after that. The WRC Book Club is open to anyone interested in reading. The next Wild Women Writing group will meet from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 18, in the Crossroads Building Conference Room 308 at 1099 Main Ave. This month's topic will be "Getting Published" with specia guest Heather Leavitt-Martinez with the Southwest Colorado Arts Perspective magazine. Wild Women Writing is open to both published and unpublished writers who are interested in fiction, nonfiction, journaling, screenwriting, poetry or another format. The Writer's Group offers a safe environment to share ideas, create and read original compositions, and receive kind, constructive feedback. There is no fee to join the WRC Writer's Group!
