Events and Fund Raisers

Throughout the year, the Women's Resource Center hosts a variety of special events to raise funds for or awareness of our programs and services.

  • Move With Purpose is an annual "pledge event" for the Women's Resource Center in which runners, walkers and new to this year's event, bike riders are invited to meet their own fitness goals while working toward a larger goal of helping women. The event will be held this year in conjunction with the Tour of Durango taking place on October 11 and 12, 2008, in Durango. Participants join team WRC and raise money for WRC by obtaining pledges for every mile they run, walk, or ride in the race. Please contact the Center at 970-247-1242, or email women@wrcdurango.org to join team WRC.
  • Men Who Grill is the Women's Resource Center's annual summertime grilling competition and "fun-raiser". More than 600 attendees, volunteers and grill team members enjoyed the food and fun during the 2008 DirectoryPLUS Men Who Grill fundraiser in downtown Durango on Saturday June 7th. Ticket holders sampled tasty grilled tidbits from 19 grilling teams (the most ever!) who put on quite a show by wearing costumes and decorating their booths with their own unique theme. Attendees help choose the winners in a variety of wacky categories based upon both food and presentation! Music was provided by the Kirk James Band and beer was provided by Ska Brewing. If you are interested reserving a space for a team for the 2009 Men who Grill email director@wrcdurango.org.
