Women’s Resource Center’s Volunteer of the Year
Shauna was introduced to the Women’s Resource Center by our long time “Wednesday” volunteer, Barb Shore. The WRC’s Program Director, Christy Shaerer, first met her a couple of years ago at a Womenade pot luck. Not long after they met, Barb told us she moved out of town! But, just like everyone else, she didn’t stay away from Durango for long. After less than a year away, she and her husband realized how much they missed Durango, so they moved back to town.
Lucky for the WRC, she picked up right where she left off by attending Womenade again and is now one of our Womenade Council members. Wanting to get more involved with the organization, she also became our “Thursday” office volunteer in October of 2012. We all enjoy her pleasant demeanor, her caring way and positive attitude whether she’s helping at the office, a special event or at Womenade. She’s a pistol and boy can she cook!! It has been our pleasure getting to know Shauna, and a greater pleasure giving her this award.
